GSS Promote Careers in Science
Scientific Services staff have recently been involved in the promotion of science careers throughout Scotland’s schools. In partnership with Learning and Teaching Scotland, a series of job activities and role profile videos were taken with starring roles from staff across the section, including our modern apprentices and school placement students from Springburn Academy, Glasgow.

Helen Lang, World of Work Online Coordinator at Learning and Teaching Scotland. ‘The World of Work Online filming at Glasgow Scientific Services was a real eye opener in terms of the jobs that are available to young people in the various Scientific disciplines represented there. 17 short films were made in total and will go online within the next couple of months. I am sure the films will serve to inspire young people to look into careers in the sciences.’ The pictures below show Elaine Walters registering some water samples and Rhobbie Wilkie, one of the modern apprentices, carrying out safety testing of food.
