  • Food Standards Scotland visit Aberdeen Scientific Services Laboratory’s New Accommodation

Public Analysts Duncan Campbell and Karen Maddison and Food Examiner Kerry Parrott with visitors from FSS

With the move from Old Aberdeen House to the James Hutton Institute’s Craigiebuckler Site (JHI) complete staff at ASSL welcomed colleagues from FSS to look round the
new laboratories. Commenting on the visit Duncan Campbell said, “I felt invigorated after the morning’s meeting which provided an opportunity to meet up after lockdown, discuss matters of interest and showcase our new laboratories.”

The Public Analyst laboratory moved to JHI from the site at Old Aberdeen House in part of a former Edwardian school in 1986, having vacated four rooms of the 5th floor of the quaintly named 41 ½ Union St which had become the laboratory of the Grampian Region following local government reorganisation in 1975.
